Bruce B. Dunn is an accomplished freelance trumpeter hailing from Vancouver in Washington State. Mr. Dunn holds performance degrees from Washington State University (B.M. - Performance & Education 1997, cum laude) and Portland State University (M.M. - Performance 1999). Principal teachers included Paul Dean Comely, Jim O’Banion, Gerald B. Webster and Dr. David R. Turnbull. Mr. Dunn is a freelance trumpeter in the Portland metro area and has performed with countless groups in the northwest including Oregon Symphony, Portland Columbia Symphony, Portland Opera, Symphony Tacoma, Big Horn Brass, Bach Cantata Choir & Orchestra and is the Principal Trumpet of the The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA,
Vancouver Symphony Orchestra
Mr. Dunn is Principal Trumpet with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA, a chair he has maintained since 1999. Under the direction of Music Director & Conductor Dr. Salvador Brotons the VSO performs 14 subscription series concerts at Skyview Concert Hall as well as in-school children’s concerts and other events. The VSO is also the headliner for the Vancouver Arts & Music Festival featuring guest conductor Gerard Schwarz.
Big Horn Brass
Mr. Dunn is a frequent performer with the BIG HORN BRASS, a 15-piece symphonic brass ensemble led by Andrew Harris in Portland, Oregon. The Big Horn Brass performs several concerts throughout the year. Please visit their website for more information!
Columbia River Brass
The Columbia River Brass is a traditionally scored brass quintet performing music of varied styles and genres. Co-founded in 2006 along with Scott Winks and David Conditt, the ensemble performs several events each year sponsored by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Music Northwest. Columbia River Brass is Bruce Dunn, Scott Winks: Trumpets, Dr. Daniel Partridge: Horn, David Conditt: Trombone and John Walling: Tuba. Bach Cantata Choir & Orchestra
Mr. Dunn is a regualr performer with the Bach Cantata Choir & Orchestra. This ensemble is dedicated to the performance of the Cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach over a period of 30 years. Ralph Nelson, Artistic Director.
